Now that 2024 has ended, below is a breakdown of the filing and reporting deadlines before the financial year ends.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"January_2025\"><\/span><b>January 2025<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those in partnerships, self-employment, or even directors or shareholders who might receive dividend income or claim business expenses must keep track of the self-assessment deadline of 31 January 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On 31<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">st<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> January, all online filings, tax payments for the previous year, 2023\/2024, and the first \u2018payment on accounts\u2018 are due. This annual filing tells <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/hm-revenue-customs\">HM Revenue and Customs<\/a> (HMRC) of the income you have received in the previous tax year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deadline for capital gains tax for sole traders and partnerships is 31 January. The tax applies when selling assets. The deadline for residential properties is 60 days after the completion date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you miss this deadline, HMRC will fine you \u00a3100 for delays of up to three months. For longer delays or late payments, additional charges and interest will accrue. The month also marks changes to statutory pay rates or employer\u2019s National Insurance (NI). On April 1<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">st<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, there will be changes to statutory pay rates and employers\u2019 NI. The NMW rate changes from 2025 are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Living Wage Rate (21 and over) &#8211; \u00a312.21 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">18\u201320 Year-Old Rate &#8211; \u00a310.00 <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">16-17 Year-Old Rate &#8211; \u00a37.55 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apprentice Rate &#8211; \u00a37.55<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accommodation Offset\u00a0 \u00a310.66<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employers\u2019 NI contribution will increase from 13.8% to 15%. HMRC will lower the threshold at which employers are required to pay NI will be lowered from \u00a39,100 to \u00a35,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deadline for registering payroll benefits with HMRC for the tax year 2024\/2025 is 5 April. Payrolling a benefit means adding the taxable value of an employee&#8217;s benefit to their taxable pay during payroll.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"20252026_tax_year\"><\/span><b>2025\/2026 tax year<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2025\/26 tax year begins on April 6. Changes in statutory parental, sick, and bereavement leave pay rates will take effect on this day. A P60 shows the tax the employee paid on their salary in the tax year (6 April to 5 April).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"July_2025\"><\/span><b>July 2025<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This month, there are reporting taxable benefits on July 6th, a few HMRC deadlines, such as taxable benefit reporting on 6<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> July for the 2023\/24 tax year, paying NI on taxable benefit reporting on 22<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nd<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> July, and a second payment on accounts due on 31<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">st<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> July.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"October_2025\"><\/span><b>October 2025<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This month is the deadline for Self-Assessment registration and for partnerships to update any changes to HMRC. If you <a href=\"https:\/\/businassist.com\/uk-ltd-company-formation.php\">started your UK business<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/businassist.com\/blog\/how-long-does-it-take-to-get-tax-refund-after-self-assessment\/\">tax year 2024\/2025 and you did not register for Self-Assessment<\/a>, October 5<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the deadline to apply to HMRC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 31st of October is the deadline for submitting the Self-Assessment return paper to HMRC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">August, September, November, and December have no critical reporting and filing dates. Things businesses should look out for in 2025 is the Spring Budget on March 26<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the Autumn Budget in October. The Spring budget is where the Chancellor updates the UK\u2019s progress after the Autumn Budget.
